Sound for Film

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of sound in filmmaking, as it essentially accounts for 50% of a film. The curriculum will guide students step-by-step, from the initial sound recording process on location to the final mixing of the audio. Emphasis will be placed on both the technical aspects of sound recording and mixing equipment, as well as the creative artistry involved in making sound design decisions to produce a high-quality final product. The course will cover a range of subjects, including an introduction to the equipment used on set for location recording, sound design, and how to use sound to tell a compelling story. Additionally, students will receive an introduction to film mixing, which includes topics such as volume, panning, automation, and effects. Overall, the course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to produce high-quality audio that complements and enhances the visual components of any film.
