Music for Film

This course is dedicated to exploring the role of music in film as a separate entity within the film industry. The course is designed to focus on two main areas; the impact of music on the viewer, and the legal considerations that need to be taken into account when using pre-recorded music. The effect of music on mood and emotions will be examined in detail, along with the types of music that can be used in film, including library music and music composed specifically for a project. Additionally, the course will cover the subject of royalties and how to manage them. Students will learn the language used by musicians to express themselves to the music department, and the different positions that exist within a film’s music department and the contributions each position makes to the overall project.
