Directing

The introductory course for the subject of directing aims to provide students with a strong foundation in all aspects of directing. Over a period of two months, the students will be given 48 hours to learn about various genres of cinema, such as Black & White, Cinema Noir, Russian, Italian, French, and others, through visual examples and discussions. In addition, they will be introduced to different types of films, including short features, documentaries, music videos, and promotional videos. The course will also cover a breakdown of the director’s role, including their responsibilities and contribution to the filmmaking process. The students will learn how to construct a vision for a story and who the director deals with directly on and off set. Furthermore, the course will provide a technical analysis of the film, including changes in color, speed, sound, framing, and other tools used to improve the creative vision. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to direct a simple film and have a solid base to continue their studies in directing at a university level.
